CPR & AED

The Medic 1 Education Department provides CPR & Automated External Defibrillator (AED) classes for interested parties. Classes are held periodically in area emergency service departments as well as at Medic 1 Ambulance in Benton Harbor.

Basic First Aid

The Medic 1 Education Department offers Basic First Aid classes for your workplace or individual needs. This class provides valuable skills when taught alone or in addition to the CPR & AED classes.  These classes are typically conducted at your area work site or at Medic 1 Ambulance in Benton Harbor.

EMS Education

The Medic 1 Education Department provides a variety of EMS courses including Medical First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and, Paramedic along with continuing education for all levels of EMS healthcare providers.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN COURSE

Emergency medical technician and specialist certificates. Courses are college level and the student must earn a grade of “C” or better on all tests/homework, dress as required by clinics and complete 32 hours of clinical work with local ambulance service and hospitals (earned concurrently with class). Information and paperwork will be provided to register in the National Registry and to make reservations for the State examination.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION

The Medic 1 Education Department offers courses through your department, office, business or facility.

Medic 1 Ambulance promotes itself by educating the public on how to access its services, when services are needed, and the awareness of risk-associated behaviors, such as recognizing common dangers and injury prevention.

We also provide ambulance demos and standby services to local groups.

PARAMEDIC COURSE

MEDIC 1 is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).

Medic 1 Outcome Results

In accordance with CAAHEP requirements, the following outcomes have been achieved by students in our paramedic program. The acceptable threshold for each category is established by CAAHEP as being 70%.
